Matching Logic and Approach

When we review the fields above, we can score the likelihood of a record match to a LinkedIn entity (person or company) and determine if it meets our threshold for a confirmed or usable match.

Here's a tip

We don’t need an exact match of any record field entries because we look for similarities, partial matches, and use advanced data cleaning to evaluate possible matches.

How Can End Users Help Improve Matching?

Important to know

As a Sales Navigator user, you can verify and edit matches to your existing CRM lead/account/contact with the Match Correction feature, click the Edit match button on a lead/account/company profile page, or View in CRM to confirm/create a new CRM record match.

We’re constantly testing and improving our models to ensure the best possible end-user CRM Sync experiences and functionality. Our scoring model is built and refined based on sample data that we have of both accurate and inaccurate matches, allowing us to test overall performance as we iterate on the models.

Given the variability of data entry in CRMs, here are some steps to ensure that your match quality is always improving:

  • Focus on data completeness and quality – To make it easier for our models to work accurately and completely.

  • Train your team to manually update matches using our embedded profiles – To allow you to see the match we currently have and update it if it isn’t accurate for every user on your Sales Navigator contract. When your team manually updates matches, it immediately helps all your users and all CRM Sync functionality, every time they make a correction.
