Identity verification by CLEAR - Troubleshooting

Last updated: 3 months ago

Here are some tips that may be helpful if you run into issues with adding the identity verification on your profile using CLEAR. Check the following:

  • Name doesn’t match: The name on your ID must match the name on your LinkedIn profile. If you have a LinkedIn profile in another language, the name on your ID also needs to match the name on your secondary profile. Your verification will not be added to your Linkedin profile unless they match.
  • Verifications not added: We won’t be able to add the verification to your LinkedIn profile unless you consent that CLEAR can share the identity verification with LinkedIn. At the end of the verification process with CLEAR, click on “yes, share with LinkedIn.”
  • CLEAR account has already been used: Each CLEAR identity verification can only be added to one LinkedIn profile. If your CLEAR account is already associated with a LinkedIn profile, it can’t be used on another profile.
  • ID Type: Make sure you use a government-issued ID. CLEAR accepts U.S., Canadian, and Mexican driver’s licenses, State IDs and passports for identity verification.
  • Illegible ID: To verify your document, CLEAR will need a clear, complete, and well-lit photo of your ID. In that photo, make sure the text is visible and legible, with no glare preventing full visibility of the ID, and that all four corners of the ID are captured.
  • Selfie image: Make sure that your face is visible within the oval, well-lit, and free from glare when submitting your face photo.
  • Devices: You will be able to capture your ID only through a mobile device. This verification cannot be completed using desktop or laptop devices.
  • Minors: LinkedIn members below 18 are not allowed to verify your identity with CLEAR.
