Update your InMail default visibility

InMail default visibility is a contract setting in LinkedIn Recruiter that allows you to control the default visibility when composing a new message.

An admin can choose the default InMail visibility setting on the contract. Every message sent to a candidate from a project within the contract will apply one of the following visibility settings:

  • Anyone in my organization
  • Members of project
  • Only the author

Important to know

Adjusting this setting does not change the visibility of messages already sent. For instance, if a member sends an "Only the author" message, this message will remain private to the author regardless of the default visibility setting. Only the author can change the visibility setting on their sent messages. The InMail default visibility setting only applies to InMails sent from within a project.

To set InMail default visibility:

  1. Move your cursor over your profile picture at the top of your Recruiter homepage and select Product settings from the dropdown.

  2. Click Preferences on the left rail.

  3. Click Edit next to InMail default visibility.

  4. Select your default visibility.

  5. Click Save.
