Add screening questions to your Recruiter job post

You can add screening questions while posting a job through LinkedIn Recruiter that applicants will be asked as part of their application process. This helps you better identify applicants who meet the required qualifications. LinkedIn auto-fills relevant screening questions based on the job description you’ve entered, but you have the option to edit them.
LinkedIn also promotes your job posts to members who meet the criteria defined in your screening questions.

Important to know

Screening questions are only available when collecting applicants via email. Editing screening questions after they are live can impact previously collected data. If you edit an existing screening question, any responses to that question may be deleted. To preserve applicant data, you should delete the old question and add a new one instead.

To add screening questions while posting a job on Recruiter:
  1. Begin posting a job on Recruiter.

  2. On the Step 2: Add screening questions page, select the screening questions you'd like to add to the application process. The system populates relevant screening question(s) based on the job description you’ve entered. You may also see additional recommendations that you can accept from the right side recommendations module. You can edit the information, if necessary.

    You can create a custom screening question or select screening questions from the following available options:

    • Work Experience
    • Education
    • Location
    • Language
    • Certifications
    • Work Authorization
    • Visa Status
    • Expertise with Tools

      Note: You can add up to three screening questions for work experience, language, certifications, and expertise with tools, and only one screening question for the remaining options.
  3. Once you are done adding the screening questions:
    • You can delete any of these questions by clicking the Delete icon.
    • You can decide the sequence in which the questions appear to applicants by clicking the Up and Down icons.
  4. Click Continue.

    Note: You can define screening questions as Required (must-have) or Preferred.

Here's a tip

If you’ve added more than three screening questions to your job post, the system automatically sorts applicants based on the answers to those questions. If you’ve added fewer than three, you can manually sort applicants by screening question answers.
