Edit user attributes in bulk via CSV in Recruiter

As a user and license management admin, you can edit attributes of user's enterprise profiles in bulk. This includes the users’ email address, first name, last name, phone number, and more. This doesn't affect their personal LinkedIn profiles.

Edit user emails in bulk via CSV

To edit user emails in bulk via CSV:

  1. In Recruiter, move your cursor over your profile photo on the homepage and select Go to LinkedIn Admin Center from the dropdown. 

  2. In LinkedIn Admin Center, click Manage users via CSV and select Download all users via CSV

  3. Open the CSV file and change the invited_email_address header to existing_email_address.

  4. Insert a new column called invited_email_address. Enter the corresponding new email address for each row.  

    Here's a tip

    If the email does not need to be updated, either delete the row or copy/paste the existing email as the invited email. 

  5. Save the file as a .csv file type on your device.  

  6. In LinkedIn Admin Center, click Add new users, then select Add users by CSV in the dropdown.

  7. Select your updated CSV and click Upload

Edit user attributes in bulk via CSV

We recommend assigning each user a unique ID so if users have identical first and last names, you can update information for the correct user when you perform bulk actions using a CSV.

To edit users’ attributes in bulk via CSV:

  1. Sign in to Recruiter.

  2. Click your profile picture at the top of your Recruiter homepage and select Go to LinkedIn Admin Center from the dropdown. 

  3. In LinkedIn Admin Center, click Manage users via CSV then select Download all users via CSV

    In the User attributes box, add the Unique user ID attribute plus additional attributes you'd like to edit. 

  4. To download specific users, you can filter by licenses, permissions, and attributes by clicking in the box and selecting from the dropdown.

  5. Click Download CSV. A copy of your user list and customized fields will be exported.

  6. Open the CSV file using text editing software on your device. Verify the IDs associated to each user. 

  7. Edit the attributes. Each CSV file much meet specific formatting requirements to upload successfully.

    Important to know

    If you update email addresses (such as to work email addresses), we’ll send an invitation email to prompt inactive users to activate their license. Active users won’t receive an invitation email.

  8. Save the file as a CSV file type on your device.
  9. In LinkedIn Admin Center, click Add new users, then select Add users by CSV in the dropdown. Click Upload CSV.

A confirmation message will appear to verify that your upload was successful. You can verify the updates by viewing the user’s enterprise profile or by downloading a new CSV file.

Important to know

If you are trying to perform bulk actions on more than 2K users, to avoid long upload times, use one of the following methods: CSV uploads or Groups (segment users into separate sections and take bulk actions on them).
